Assistance/Entitlements

As a head and neck cancer patient you have a number of support resources available to help you.

You will need to be a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident to access this support.

Benefits and Entitlements

The WINZ website: https://www.workandincome.govt.nz/eligibility/lost-job/health-condition.html provides additional information, in the form of a questionnaire (takes around 5 minutes to complete) which will tell you if you are eligible for support and the approximate payment you may be eligible to receive, ahead of making a formal application.

This information explains some of the help you may be able to get from Work and Income if you or your family/whānau or caregiver’s ability to work is affected by cancer.

The scenarios in this information sheet show different types of help you may be able to get depending on your situation. These are examples only.

Further information about benefits and entitlements is available in the Cancer Society’s information sheet Benefits and entitlements: What happens when you apply for Work and Income support?
