Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) with a global incidence of over 500,000 cases and 200,000 deaths annually is the leading cause of mortality and disability in many parts of the world. It mainly affects people in the productive age-group, yet most of this mortality and morbidity is preventable. To draw the world’s attention on effective care and control of HNC, the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncology Societies declared 27th July as World Head & Neck Cancer Day (WHNCD).

You, and your organisation, are invited to work with the Head and Neck Cancer Survivors’ Support Network to ensure World Head and Neck Cancer Day 2017 is memorable.

How can you help?

We are looking to partner with the Ministry of Health, District Health Boards, hospitals, private specialists, and allied health professional and care organisations to bring World Head and Neck Cancer Day to life in New Zealand in 2017. You can help to raise awareness  by offering free clinics, education evenings, speaking at Cancer Society functions, and by raising awareness in your organisation or healthcare facility. Follow the example set in Christchurch and encourage your team to wear red. #awaREDness Please talk with your team. What can you do in 2017?
